MURRAY STARTS IN ABU DHABI

Andy Murray will start the new season by participating in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship which is going to be played from 27th to 29th of December at Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex. Murray hadn’t been participating in this tournament since the last three years, but, the British superstar has decided to take part this time around.

Apart from Murray, five other top players will also take part in this tournament. Those five players are Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Janko Tipsarevic. Andy Murray’s first match will be against the no. 9 player in the world Janko Tipsarevic.

Djokovic and Nadal have been given the bye in the first round matches, so they will start their campaign by directly playing in the semi final match. In the second match on 27th December, David Ferrer will take on Tomas Berdych. The semi final matches will be played on 28th of December and then, the final match will be played on the following day. The winner of the tournament will receive a grand prize of 250,000 US Dollars, and will probably have the shortest Wimbledon odds in the Summer.

When Murray was asked about the tournament, the British superstar said, “It’s a fantastic tournament. I haven’t played there since quite a while, but, I am pretty excited this time around. That will be the first event of the season. So, I would like to start on a winning note.”

“This year has been very good for me. I have had some great success. I won an Olympic medal for the first time and I also won my first Grand Slam. So, it has been a pretty special year.”

“Yes, in the last couple of tournaments, I wasn’t at my best, but, barring that I had been pretty consistent. I would like to continue my form in the next season as well and would try to win a few more titles.”
