MURRAY DEFEATS BAGHDATIS

Andy Murray has defeated Marcos Baghdatis in the third round of the Men’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics. With this victory, Murray secured a berth in the quarter finals. Murray had won the first two matches with ease, but, in this match, he had to struggle hard. He didn’t look fluent at the start of the match and made some mistakes in the first set. Eventually, he was able to win the match by 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Murray looked rusty right from the beginning of the match. He was not hitting the ball well in the first set. Baghdatis broke Murray’s service in the very first game of the first set. But, the Scottish superstar came back to break the service of Baghdatis in the fourth game to level the score 2-2. But, in the seventh game, Baghdatis broke through again and then kept the lead till the end of the first set to win the set by 6-4. After losing the first set, Murray made a strong come back in the second set. In the fourth game of the second set, Baghdatis served two double faults and Murray broke through to take a lead of 3-1. Murray again broke the service of Baghdatis in the sixth game and then held his service in the next game to win the second set easily by 6-1. In the third set, Murray didn’t have to face much difficulty. He got a breakthrough in the beginning of the set and then he held his service in the remaining games to win the match.

After the match Murray said that he was pretty tensed after losing the first set. It was not easy to make a comeback. As per Murray, when you play in front of such a huge crowd, you tend to get nervous sometimes, but, he is happy that he was able to win the match. In the quarter final, Murray will play against Nicolas Almagro of Spain.
